There are lots of marketing strategies out there.
When you master one option, let’s say Facebook, you tend to get too comfortable and forget to explore other ones. The truth of the matter is that there are so many ways to market your product nowadays, that you won’t even have the time to investigate all of them.
Yesterday I tried the first time the Amazon Giveaway. I decided to give it a chance since one can give away today not just an actual physical book but also a digital book on Kindle. Those are less expensive, and there are no shipping and handling costs involved.
Amazon set my promotion for two weeks. I don’t even know if the date could have been alternated, but I said to myself: There are probably thousands of Giveaway products out there, so let’s give my comic book some time to float around and make an eye contact with some wonderful readers.
I chose to give away my English Teacher Comic # 4, assuming that if the readers like it, they will come back for # 1, 2 and 3. I also wanted to give a buzz in regard to my new channel on Youtube. I have there only one, a book trailer, and I knew it would appreciate some more love.
In return for receiving a free comic book, my readers were supposed to watch my beautiful adorable exciting movie. Not such a bad deal, right?
The deal on my end was exciting too. I would gain some exposure and get the royalty for the money I invested.
The Giveaway adventure started at 7:05 pm. TADA!
I didn’t even have the chance to promote it on Facebook or Twitter. I was too hungry.
So I went to the kitchen to prepare dinner, and when I got to the salad thing, I checked my emails.
“Your Giveaway has ended” – read Amazon in big letters.
The time was 7:35 pm. It took 30 minutes to some great people all over the U.S to watch my movie with a chance to get my comic book. Some of them, the luckiest (and smartest) ones, were about to receive my Kindle comic. 👨👨👧👦 👨👨👧👦 👨👨👧👦 👨👨👧👦 👨👨👧👦 👨👨👧👦 👨👨👧👦 👨👨👧👦
Wow, this was fast!
But hold your horses.
Fast, however, isn’t that great, if not many readers were exposed to the movie.
In this Giveaway- one comic book was given free for every six viewers. My lesson for next time is: to set the Giveaway with fewer chances to win (let’s say 1 book for 20 or 30 viewers) and this way to expose more readers to my material.
There are several options for an Amazon’s Giveaways. You will find all over the web some movies and articles about the process, and “How To Do It”.
I am bringing you some of them:
I definitely will try it again, and also click on the Amazon Giveaways page (HERE) to try myself to win some goodies.
My take on it is – that it’s a feel-good process all around.
Just don’t give away your house and kids. You may still need them.
